From a family friend, Marcine Smith, recipe from circa 1990
Ingredients
For cake -
4 cans refrigerator bisquits, country or buttermilk style
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. brown sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
For sauce –
1 1/2 sticks margarine
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
Baking Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
For the cake – Combine the sugars and the cinnamon in a plastic bag. Break or cut the bisquits into quarters and add 10-12 pieces at a time to the bag and shake to coat. Drop into a greased tube or bundt pan.
For the sauce – Melt butter and sugars in a small saucepan. Cook until thick. Pour over bisquits and bake for 30 minutes. Invert onto a plate while warm.
Our thoughts
Very rich dessert; but, fun for kids to help make (and eat!)
Can add nuts and/or raisins to the sauce.
