Family recipe (Thanks, Mom!)
Ingredients
1 lg. head cabbage
1 lg. green pepper, chopped fine
1 medium onion, chopped fine
1 c. sugar
1 c. vinegar
3/4 c. salad oil
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. celery seed
Preparation Instructions
Shred cabbage fine. Put cabbage, pepper and onion in bowl in layer, sprinkling sugar over each layer. Bring vinegar, oil, mustard, salt and celery seed to boil; cool. Pour over cabbage mixture, but do not stir at all. Refrigerate for 24 hours. Remove from fridge and stir. Place in tight container or jar. Return to refrigerator until ready to use. Will keep in fridge for several weeks.
Our Thoughts
Takes a little longer to prepare for the table than some recipes, but it’s worth it!
